In accordance with the Bylaws, nominations will be taken September 16, 2008 at the monthly Local Lodge 2339H business meeting. All nominations must be made from the floor by a member in good standing. Nominations may not be submitted in writing. Members may nominate themselves. Members who are not present may be nominated, but they must have a letter on file with the Recording Secretary stating that they will accept the nomination for that particular office. Nomination acceptance letters must be received by September 16, 2008 prior to the commencement of the meeting. Nominations will be taken for the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Conductor/Sentinal, three (3) Trustees, three (3) Auditors, two (2) full-time and four (4) part-time Grievance Committee Members for Continental Airlines; one (1) full-time and two (2) part-time Grievance Committee Members for ExpressJet and one (1) Grievance Committee Member for ExpressJet (SAT, LAX, and ONT). Elections will take place at the monthly lodge meeting October 21, 2008. Polls will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. The term of office for each position is three (3) years, commencing January 2009. Eligibility Eligibility requirements are governed by the IAM Constitution. To be eligible to run for office, Flight Attendants must be an IAM member in good standing for a period of one year at the time of nominations, free from any delinquency to the Local, District or Grand Lodge and working at the trade for a period of six months prior to nomination. The Base Chairperson and Grievance Representative position(s) may only be filled by a person based in the respective location and employed by the respective carrier. Request for Absentee Ballot Those member who qualify for and wish to receive an Absentee Ballot must complete and submitt and Absentee Ballot Request form. Request forms can be received from the local lodge Recording Secretary. Absentee ballot requests must be sent by US Government Mail and be returned to the Local Lodge office; 15710 JFK Blvd, Suite 265, Houston, TX 77032. Absentee ballot requests must be received by the Local Lodge no later than 30 days prior to the election. |
